Veteran’s Benefits
Military veterans and their families have made many sacrifices to protect the people of Georgia. At the Estate Planning Law Group of Georgia, we are extremely grateful for their service and have devoted part of our practice to helping these individuals qualify for the Aid and Attendance benefit.
Although this important benefit can help numerous families in Georgia pay for long-term care and other medical expenses, many people are not even aware it exists. Our lawyers can help you determine whether you qualify for benefits.
Let us help you apply at no cost to you.
The Aid And Attendance Benefit
Benefits are available based on your specific situation.
Aid and Attendance is a benefit available through the Department of Veterans Affairs that provides certain veterans with serious or total disabilities compensation for nursing home care, in-home care or assisted living. It is paid in addition to the military pension. Wartime veterans, and their spouses who meet financial, medical and service qualifications may be eligible for monthly Aid and Attendance benefits.
Helping you prepare to qualify for benefits
Qualifying factors are necessary to determine eligibility.
There are three main qualifying factors for Aid and Attendance. If the following statements apply to you, you may be eligible:
-
- You or your spouse was on active duty for at least 90 days with at least one day served during wartime.
- You require assistance with daily activities like dressing and bathing because of a disability.
- You have a financial need for benefits.
Similar to Medicaid, there is are financial thresholds that must be met to qualify to receive Aid and Attendance benefits. If we assess your financial situation and think you may not meet the financial need requirement, we can help you make a plan to take steps to increase your chances of qualifying.
Ongoing Maintenance
Maintenance plans ensure your plan shifts when your life does.
As with all plans, preparation and maintenance are key. Remember that even the most thoughtfully designed plan may go through changes and requires regular maintenance. Ensure you work closely with your estate planning attorney to keep them up to date with any changes as or before they arise to ensure you are aways one step ahead of any surprises.
